What is a Fat Hoarder?

Isn’t that a GREAT question? What IS a fat hoarder? Well let’s see….a hoarder is someone who hoards “stuff”. They pile it sky high in their home and it consumes every room. It destroys every relationship and it’s hard to treat because the hoarder first must recognize and accept that they are hoarding “stuff”. Once their eyes are opened to what they have been doing, then the work begins. They often find it hard to let go of the stuff they have filled their lives with. They are directed to make three piles: KEEP, GIVE AWAY, THROW AWAY. So, what is a fat hoarder?

Simply put: a fat hoarder is someone who is hoarding fat. It’s all over their bodies but in this case they WANT to get rid of it but often times can’t figure out how. This is not a case of “eat less and move more to lose weight” and if you believe that that’s all it takes then please read: It’s Overstoring, Not Overeating! Why the “Eat Less Move More” Message Is Backfiring and Making You Fat and Sick and Destroying America

So what’s the answer?

STOP DIETING AND EAT! It’s time to STOP the food fight, break all the dieting rules and repair your relationship with food and yourself….

WHERE do you start? You start by putting all food items back on the table (and back into your pantry, fridge and freezer).

This isn’t a matter of what you “should” or “should not” eat. This is about responding to the hunger with food. What do you want to eat?

I’m not going to sneak in a food list. YOU create a food list for yourself. WARNING: At first, your list may be filled with all the wonderful play foods you’ve been avoiding and that is perfectly okay.

Aren’t those foods “bad” for me? You ask…..it’s not my job nor my place to tell YOU what to eat. We are all different. We all have different body chemistries and what’s “bad” for me may not be “bad” for you. Common sense tells us that if you know you are allergic to something then avoiding it is the best option.

Please only avoid the things you know you need to avoid because you’ve seen the specialist; not because “everyone else is avoiding it.”

So, the answer to hoarding fat? Is to EAT!! Most people find that eating a variety of foods helps them move away from deprivation.

Nope, I’m not gonna put a list of foods here either. All you need to remember is that there are 4 macro-nutrients needed by the body. They are:

  • Fat
  • Protein
  • Carbohydrates
  • Water

As long as you’re getting some form of all of those AND you are not feeling hungry or deprived, then you’re doing AWESOME!!

I’m not even going to tell you to make sure you “eat healthy fats” or whether plant or animal protein is best for you. You’re not even going to get a lecture about which carbohydrates to avoid. WHY? Because you’ve heard it all before and it doesn’t work.

This doesn’t work if the rules make you so afraid of food that you distract yourself from eating anything at all. THAT’S what’s unhealthy. Avoiding food at all costs is costing you in ways you haven’t even noticed yet.

The time is NOW to Stop the food fight! It really is okay to break all those dieting rules. It’s time to relearn how to love yourself AND food again because that’s where the magic happens.

While the “eat less and move more” theory might not be the answer to your current weight issues, please don’t throw away the “move more” part. Movement is important for good health. Movement keeps you looking and feeling young AND gives you the strength and stamina to keep up with the very active younger generations.

Choose to include movement in your daily life but do it in a way that you find fulfilling and enjoyable. If you don’t like to run (like me) then don’t but DO find some form of movement that you can enjoy doing most days of the week….yes, housework and playing outside with the kids counts. Make it fun and remember that movement is no longer about “losing weight” but GAINING HEALTH!
